History and the development of the company
The company was first founded by Kintaro Hattori in the year 1881. He opened a watch and jewel company known as K. Hattori. The shop was located near the Ginza area of Tokyo. After 11 long years the in the year 1892 Kintaro Hattori started to produce the clocks known under the name known as Seikosha which means the house of exquisite workmanship.
The first watch which was officially produced under the brand name Seiko was introduced to the market in the year 1924. In the year 1969 Seiko watches turned out to be the first company to have introduced the world’s first quartz watch known as Astron. The time it was introduced it is said that its cost was equal that of a medium sized car!
Then the company started to introduce efficient quartz chronograph watches which became an instant hit. By doing so they became the largest bulk producer in the Asiatic countries. The company was once a big producer and manufacturer of watches but soon started producing their own Seiko gears and parts like Seiko movements.
